What are your leads worth?
Every field starts on an industry benchmark. Change nothing and it still works.
Eight in a hundred is typical.
An 11.8 kW system at $2.49 per watt.
Residential runs 20–35%. This moves the result most.
Most leads that convert are reached within six attempts.
A rough count is fine.
In California, anyone interconnected before April 2023 keeps their old rate and can add storage without touching their agreement.
What this assumes
- Responding inside five minutes is worth half a point to one and a half points of close rate. The odds of qualifying a web lead fall roughly 21× between five and thirty minutes (Oldroyd / InsideSales, 2007). Those are odds ratios, not close rates, so the gain modelled here is deliberately far smaller than the multiplier suggests. Homeowners collect three to five quotes, and the first real conversation wins more of them than the lowest price does.
- Ninety-three percent of leads that converted were reached within six call attempts, and half of inbound leads are never called a second time (Velocify, 2013, ~3.5m lead records). That figure describes leads that did convert, so we treat six attempts as a sensible ceiling rather than proof that a sixth call causes a sale. Leads that take six calls close well below the rate of easy ones, so they count here at 30% of your normal close rate.
- Faster response and deeper follow-up fix some of the same lost leads, so the two are reduced by 25% where they combine.
- A 10–13 kWh battery runs about $8,000 installed, at your margin, converting 2% of past customers without one.
- Nothing captures a full opportunity. The recovery slider starts at 35% — move it to whatever you actually believe.

Recoverable in the next 12 months
gross profit, at a 35% recovery rate
Full theoretical opportunity is $180,905. No one captures all of it — 35% is the honest starting point.
At $2,500 a month you'd need 4.1 extra installs a year to break even — not per month, per year. On these numbers the recoverable amount is 2.1× that cost.
